New things for A Family Affair

I have been looking for new things to do with my Embroidery machine and found a lot of cute applique designs. These are just a few of what I liked but if you have something in mind just let me know and I can probably find it. Most applique's are $10.00 - $15.00 and if you would like a monogram added (name, initial or 3 initials) it would be an additional $3.00 - $5.00. Thanks for looking and let me know if I can help you.

"A Family Affair" - updated March 5, 2009

"A Family Affair" is my new business/hobby started in May of 2008. I can monogram just about anything and keep on hand several gift ideas - great for graduation, wedding, baby shower, birthday gift, etc. The pullover bibs are my newest creation. They are so wonderful. As part of this "Family Affair", Ashleigh paints clothing and canvas' that are great for children - her pictures are included also - and then any sewing needed is done by my mother - Peggy Shelton. So it really is "A Family Affair!"
Thanks for stopping by our corner of the world and let us know what you have in mind. We'd love to make that perfect something just for you. Everything is made by hand so no two items will ever be the same.

Snow much fun in March 2009

Much to our surprise - the weatherman actually hit it in the right direction. We had in the forcast to get a couple inches of snow - but instead - a foot or more fell on Brownsville, TN and we had drifts of much more than that. It fell on a beautiful Saturday night so look out Sunday - we broke out the four wheeler and the sled and HAD A BLAST!!!!! All the neighborhood children and adults played all day long. Our neighbor Mr Joe Barden, even got the flat bottom boat out and pulled it with the tractor. That was CRAZY but so much fun. We rode till we just couldn't take the cold anymore and then came in and dried off and warmed up and went back at it again. The kids were out of school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so they played and played and played.

Thank you Jesus for snow and for all the fun we had!!!!!

4th Place - Go Strong Wheels!!!

We were all so surprised when we walked in the YMCA last night and saw that our team was in 4th place. We just didn't expect it. Our team had a low lbs lost this week but had many great workouts. We know we're building muscle even when we're not loosing the lbs. This has been the best experience for me. Our friendships have grown and we have met so many people in this process. Everyone is SO encouraging of each other. There are so many positives that are coming from this. We are dedicated to stick to this until the end and beyond. We are already talking about how we're gonna work out once this competition is over. Thank you to all of the trainers that are giving of their time to help so many. You mean more that you can imagine. Keep up the GREAT work everyone and let's all "pay it forward!!!"

Strong Wheels still going Strong!

I am so proud of my group. We are so encouraging of each other and try to meet everyday together to work out. Our trainer, Dave, is the BEST!!! He really pushes us and we are seeing the benefits of that in better fitting and even loose fitting clothes and just feeling better and having more energy.
It truly blesses my heart to see so many people working out each day. These trainers that are staying committed to their groups are to be commended!!! Thanks to you all for giving of your time to help those of us in need. I hope that we will all "Pay it forward" when this is over and help others in the same shape we're in. That's what it's all about anyway, isn't it.
This week 3 of us joined Janice Mann in her step aerobics class and that was AWESOME!!! You rock Janice! I thought Dave had worked every muscle in my body but Janice discovered some that Dave must not have known about - haha!!! I love the soreness though because that means I'm workin it!!! I hope to be able to continue with that class as well at least a couple times a week in addition to the other that we are doing.
And what about that Sauna! That is most relaxing thing in the world. I just hate when I have to drive home after getting out. They need to have beds that we can just climb into after getting out - haha.
TaTa for now - more later!

The Biggest Looser

I am so proud to report that our team is in 5th place!!! That is so exciting. We are having so much fun working out every night - Our trainer - Dave - is the BEST!!! He really pushes us to the limit - which is what we asked for - Thanks Dave!!! It is so great seeing the results in better fitting clothes and feeling better as well. On Sunday it was SO beautiful outside so we walked outside and wound up walking 5.8 miles - WOW!!!!! It was great!
It makes me so happy to see so many people taking charge of their health and working out together - I hope this is a new trend for Brownsville - it is incredible how many children are participating as well. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BROWNSVILLE!!!!!

Strong Wheels

Today is the official "1st" day of Brownsville's Biggest Looser Competition. Sponsered by the Hospital and the YMCA. There were so many people that have joined this competition I think even the "officials" were supprised. I am so proud to be a part of this and I think it is a HUGE step for Brownsville. The most important part of it for me is that Ashleigh and I are doing this together. Not only have I let myself go for a long time - my daughter is following in my footsteps and that breaks my heart into! I want to be such a positive role model for her and I have really let her down in this area. I pray that this will bring us closer as well as making us both healthier.
Joining us to make up our team of 4 is my lifelong friend Lisa Winchester Johnson and also Gail Carver. We are gonna be the best. I am so pumped I can hardly sleep.
Please pray that this will be a life change for all of us! I want us to all be around for a long time to enjoy our children.
