Fall Break Fun

We were headed to Natchez Trace for a camping weekend but since it was at FULL capacity by early Friday morning the second best place was CHICKASAW!!! The Johnsons, The Douglass', Mimi, Papa, and US! We had so much fun - hiking, visiting, playing and of course EATIN!
Charlie wound up staying till Wednesday with Hunter and Trey. What better way to enjoy this beautiful fall weather. Next comes the Fall Festival. More will come later.

Yeah - He's finally 10!!!!!

I've been kidding and telling Trey - "I'll be glad when you're old enough to cut the grass - What do you think I had you for anyway?" haha. Well that day has finally come. We have Papa's zero turn Snapper at our house (his spare) and Charlie has been scared to death for him to get on it so I told Trey one day when we could just "play" I'd let him on it. So yesterday I trimmed everything with the push mower and had the back yard ready for him when he got out of school - He got on that big mower and was like a pro!!! He went all over that yard - backwards and forwards and never missed a beat.

Yeah Trey!!!!! A few more practices and maybe I'll let you in the front yard with all my flowers and shrubs! - or maybe next summer.....

4th of July weekend

This 4th of July we camped at Chickasaw. Mimi, Papa, Charlie, Lora, Trey, Greg & Jenny Douglass, Jacob Smith and Cody West. It turned cloudy and cooler and was WONDERFUL!! We enjoyed 4-wheelin, horseback riding, paddle boating, resting and EATING! (That is always top on the list.) haha We met a new family - new to camping - from Oxford (Sherry and Les) and enjoyed helping with their children and showing them the ropes. They are a young family who have adopted 6 beautiful children. They really had their hands full.

Another broken arm

Friday, June 27th, while playing hide and seek with the neighborhood children, Trey decided to climb over our privacy fence instead of going through the gate to get to the front yard and wound up with another break on his right arm. Ashleigh was babysitting him and several others and called me at work. He could wiggle and twist his arm so we thought he was fine. When I got home, he was lying on the couch and started crying when I walked in. Once Charlie got home we decided it was time to visit the Emergency Room, so off to Jackson we went. We were seen immediately (much to my surprise since the waiting room was FULL) and was out of there within an hour. He got a temp. cast and was told to see West Tn Bone and Joint clinic the following week. On Tuesday, Mimi took him to see Dr. Smith and got a nice GREEN cast.

He is going to Centri-Kid childrens camp in Talladega, AL this weekend and then has a week in Panama City with the Johnsons so we are hoping to get a waterproof cast on Wednesday - Please Dr. Smith. haha

Branson 2008

We enjoyed a wonderful week in Branson the week of June 8th. We celebrated Ashleigh's birthday on the 8th while we were there as well as Father's Day on the 15th. We have a beautiful time share with Marriot and this year we requested to have pool view so we could walk right out our patio into the swimming area. That was a life saver, especially for the kids. Trey invited Hunter Johnson to go along so they stayed really busy doing things together. The timeshare offered several activities each day for the children so one day we took advantage of the painting crafts and doing tie dye shirts. They really had fun.

Mimi and Papa came for a couple of days so we enjoyed Celebration City and the fireworks/lazer display one day, the Presley's Jubilee and relaxing in the time share one day(due to rain).

Once they left we headed for the White Water park and played ALL day. From one slide to the other; from The Wave pool to The Lazy River Pool - they boys were wiped out by the end of the day and crashed very early that night. (thank goodness)

We enjoyed the Branson Landing (Downtown Branson) which has been totally redone. They have a fantastic laser/fire/water show on the lake at the top of every hour and more shops than you can name to walk to. It is so beautiful there. A nice way to end the day just strolling shop to shop. I highly recommend going there if possible.

Ashleigh was very excited about seeing the Haygood's since her Show Choir group had opened for them once when she was in High School. She could have stayed there forever. They really have a wonderful show and it was lots of fun!

For our last night we decided at the last minute to see "Noah - The Musical" at the new Sight and Sound Theatre there. It was FANTASTIC!!! It truly took my breath away - another highly recommended thing to do in Branson.

Hopefully lots of good memories were made. It was a good week had by all. (Except the speeding ticket Charlie got on the way home - oops - Sorry Charlie!!!)

Memorial Day Weekend 2008

With lots of family and friends, we enjoyed a great weekend at Enid Lake, MS again this year. Sheltons, Turners, Douglass', Aunt Barbara Cochran, and 2 sets of Burrell's we had a total of 19 who camped. It's so great to watch the children play together and enjoy being outdoors. To beat the heat we enjoyed time swimming in the lake, lots of bike rides through the shaded trail, playing playstation inside and lots of popsicles!!! Thanks to Taylor and Debi for supplying the late night movies via the projector. That was GREAT! We celebrated Grammy's birthday this year. Hope you have many more! Ashleigh serenaded us also with her guitar and that was wonderful. I love watching my mother with her sisters the most. I know how much she enjoys it so that makes my heart happy! Maybe next year more can come. I can't wait!

Charlie's "1st love"

Finally captured on film - Charlie and his 1st love. What better way to spend a Saturday than at the flying field. What a great hobby and way of relaxation. Charlie is a member of a flying club in Jackson, TN and loves to spend time there flying and watching others. He's tried and tried to get Trey interested but just can't compete with the neighborhood children. Maybe one day though...just keep trying Charlie.

Trey's 1st Piano Recital

Since January of this year, Trey has been taking Piano lessons from Ms. Elizabeth Lovell here in Brownsville. She combined with Mrs. Lori Presley Smith of Jackson who teaches voice lessons and held a recital Tuesday night at Brownsville Baptist Church. All the students did wonderfully and didn't seem a bit nervous. At least not as nervous as the parents! haha

Thanks Ms Elizabeth for the wonderful job you have done with Trey. He LOVES piano and I hope he continues to for a long time!!!

Her students are Alyssa Kirby, Callie Gieselmann, Trey Turner, Adelaide Russell & Emmy Parker.

"Beautiful Snow"

We were very pleased when Friday, March 7th, we finally got a chance at some snow. School was let out early and we got off work early and the kids hit the snow immediately and played until way past dark! It was wonderful. Not much on the streets and on Saturday it all started melting away but Friday was a BLAST! This is Trey playing with Hunter Johnson & Mary Ashton Barden.

Christmas Eve

Our family joined the Johnson family (A J, Lisa, Hunter & Anne Alise) for the Christmas Eve Service at Brownsville Baptist Church this year and it was absolutely beautiful. Afterwards we went to their house and Papa and Mimi joined us for a potluck supper. Thanks Lisa for a wonderful night that really reminded us what the Christmas season should be about! We love You!!!

Happy New Year!!!!!

For Christmas this year we got Trey 3 Discs for playing Disc Golf. While I was off on New Years Day we woke up to sunshine and decided it was a good day for a game. Since we hadn't seen Jonathan Long much over Christmas Break we asked him to come along and then invited Brent Ward, our friend down the street. Once we got to Jackson it was SSSSOOOO cold that Charlie wound up staying in the car but the rest of us braved the cold. It was so much fun and good exercise for me. Muse Park is a beautiful place.
